These records document the activities of the Student Liberal Club of Harvard University. Material includes the Club's constitution, administrative records such as financial reports and correspondence arranging for speakers, and ephemera such as news clippings and announcements. Scrapbook contents include the above as well as a few photographs of members and copies of the Proletariat and the Gad-fly. The guest book contains signatures of many notables who spoke to the gatherings, among them are signatures of Maxfield Parrish, Margaret Sanger, and W.E.B. DuBois.

The Harvard Liberal Club of Boston, an organization of graduates of Harvard, was interested in having an undergraduate counterpart. Thus, the Student Liberal Club of Harvard University was formed in 1919. In 1920, the group acquired a headquarters at 22 Winthrop Street.
